The bouzouki is tuned the same as the octave mandola, but be- cause it has a longer scale length and thinner strings, it produces a nice full sound, making this instrument most suitable for accom- panying songs or other instruments.

Short Scale Bouzouki
You may find the 660mm scale length of the bouzouki too long for playing tunes, in which case this 590mm string length bou- zouki may suit you better. Its string length is closer to that of the octave mandola, but it still has the characteristic bouzouki sound because of its larger body and lighter strings.
